What is 4H? Isn’t it just for farmers??? No way! The Shamrock Shakers 4H club of Will County is pleased to invite you to come check out all there is from 4H.
4H kids can join the Cloverbud clubs until the age of 8, then they are official members of 4H from age 8 to 18 years. The Shakers meet once a month for a scheduled meeting, run by the elected members, all kids age 8-18, with leader supervision. The members enter their choice of projects into the county 4H fair, with the opportunity to show and compete at the Illinois State Fair. The project choices are quite numerous, but a few of our favorites, include woodworking, electricity, sewing, rocketry, baking, crops, forestry, public speaking and animals, both small and large, domestic or agricultural. The 4H year runs Sept 1-Aug 31 each year and the group participates in many humanitarian efforts, some of which have been smaller scale, entertaining at retirement homes to a food and needs drive for our soldiers, to collecting items for lambsfold crisis pregnancy home and carwashes to ship items to our soldiers.
We welcome you to inquire about 4H, which is affiliated with the University of Illinois Extension office. The Shamrock Shakers Club is open to welcome new members at any time, feel free to contact adult leaders:Dave & Stasia Knox 815-741-8295.
Our next outing is Saturday April 17th at 10 am for a Forestry workshop, to be held at Van Horn Woods, frontage Rd., Plainfield . Please RSVP is you’ll be able to join us.
